Biography

Adriana Tapus is a Full Professor in the Autonomous Systems and Robotics Laboratory at ENSTA. She is also a Hi! PARIS Fellow for the 2026-2029 period.

Her research focuses on socially assistive robotics, human-robot interaction, machine learning, human modeling, and the long-term adaptation of robot behavior to users and their environment. She has been a pioneer in socially assistive robotics, with applications in personalized interaction, health, and support for human users. She received her PhD in Computer Science from EPFL and her HDR from ENSTA on personalized human-robot interaction. She previously worked as a research associate at the University of Southern California. She has authored more than 250 research publications and has received several distinctions, including the Romanian Academy Award for her contributions to assistive robotics, recognition as one of the “25 Women in Robotics You Need to Know,” and the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes académiques.
