Vicky Kalogeiton, Hi! PARIS Fellow, has been awarded the 2026 CNRS Bronze Medal, recognizing her contributions at the intersection of computer vision, multimodal analysis, and generative artificial intelligence.
Currently a Professor at École polytechnique and researcher at the Laboratoire d’informatique de l’École polytechnique (LIX – CNRS/École polytechnique), she is being recognized for the originality and impact of her research.
This distinction recognizes the early achievements of researchers whose work has already had a significant impact on their field. It highlights her contributions at the intersection of computer vision, multimodal analysis, and generative artificial intelligence.
Her research focuses on developing models capable of analyzing, understanding, and generating complex data such as images and videos. She has worked extensively on multimodal video analysis, including methods to automatically detect meaningful or engaging moments, such as humorous scenes in audiovisual content. Her early work introduced the concept of “action tubelets”, enabling more effective video analysis compared to traditional frame-by-frame approaches.
More recently, her research has focused on improving the efficiency of generative AI systems, particularly for video generation. By designing more frugal and efficient models, she aims to make these technologies more accessible, enabling their deployment on everyday devices rather than relying on resource-intensive infrastructures.
Her work has applications across a wide range of domains, from creative industries to healthcare and defense, illustrating the broad impact of her research.
This award highlights both the scientific impact of her work and its potential for real-world applications.
Congratulations to Vicky Kalogeiton on this well-deserved recognition.
