Biography

Yann Algan is Professor of Economics at HEC Paris, Director of the HEC Institute. He previously served as Dean of Pre-Experience Programs at HEC Paris and was the founding Dean of the School of Public Affairs at Sciences Po. He is also a Hi! PARIS Fellow for the 2026-2029 period.

His research focuses on emotions and trust in organizations and societies, the impact of AI on firms, society, the future of work and democracy, as well as the evaluation of management, labor market, and education policies. His work has been published in leading international economics journals. He has received several distinctions, including the Best Young French Economist Prize, the Best French Economics Book Prize, and the Best French Essay Prize. He has also served as a member of the French Prime Minister’s Council of Economic Advisers and received both an ERC Starting Grant and an ERC Consolidator Grant for his work on trust, emotions, AI, and democracy.
