Biography

Patrick Loiseau is a Research Director at Inria Saclay, where he leads the FairPlay team, a joint team between Criteo, ENSAE Paris, and Inria Saclay. He is also a part-time Professor of Computer Science at École polytechnique and ENSAE Paris.

His research focuses on machine learning and game theory, with particular interests in online learning, algorithms, the economics of data, incentives, data valuation, data markets, and trustworthy machine learning. His work also addresses fairness-aware algorithms, security of agentic AI, LLM alignment, and applications such as matching and online advertising.

Patrick Loiseau is also a Hi! PARIS Synergy Fellow for the 2025-2028 period, together with Vianney Perchet, Yuki Tamura, and Pablo Winant, on the project “Design, Incentivization, Optimization and Reinforcement Learning of Multi-Layered Markets.” This fellowship focuses on the design and optimization of complex markets, such as labor and online advertising markets, by combining market design, reinforcement learning, and mean-field Stackelberg games.

The project aims to help evaluate and improve market policies across objectives such as efficiency, revenue, and fairness.
