Biography

Nicolò Cesa-Bianchi is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Milan and one of Europe’s leading researchers in machine learning algorithm design, particularly in online learning. His work has shaped key foundations of the field, including multi-armed bandit algorithms with applications in recommender systems and online auctions, as well as graph analytics applied to social networks and bioinformatics.

Cesa-Bianchi received a Google Research Award in 2010, a Xerox University Affairs Committee Award in 2011, a Criteo Faculty Award in 2017, a Google Faculty Award in 2018, and an IBM Academic Award in 2021.
