Julien Grand-Clément is an Associate Professor of Operations Management in the Information Systems and Operations Management department at HEC Paris, and a Hi! PARIS Chair Holder. His research focuses on data-driven decision-making under uncertainty, with applications in healthcare, optimization, and algorithmic game theory.
His work combines machine learning, optimization, stochastic modeling, Markov decision processes, and causal inference to support better decision-making in complex environments. In healthcare, his research addresses practical questions related to hospital capacity, patient transfers, ventilator allocation, and triage, especially in contexts where resources are scarce.
Julien Grand-Clément is a Hi! PARIS Chair Holder for the 2021-2024 period with the project “Data-Driven Models for Pandemic Resilience.” This project develops interpretable and data-driven models to support resource allocation in healthcare and help design policies that are robust, fair, and usable by clinicians and policymakers.
Through this work, he contributes to the development of decision-support tools that can improve preparedness and resilience in healthcare systems.
