Biography

Gaël Varoquaux is a researcher at Inria, working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, statistics, data science and health. He is also a Hi! PARIS Chair holder, with a research focus on machine learning methods that help extract useful knowledge from complex data.

His Hi! PARIS Chair project focuses on developing foundation models for tabular data, with a particular interest in healthcare applications. The project aims to create new AI architectures and training methods adapted to structured tables, including numerical variables and relational information. By making machine learning more effective on complex datasets, his work seeks to simplify data science workflows and improve the use of structured data in fields such as health.
