Biography

Fabian M. Suchanek is a Full Professor at Institut Polytechnique de Paris and Télécom Paris, where he is part of the Data, Intelligence, and Graphs team in Computer Science. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, knowledge bases, knowledge graphs, and natural language processing.

His work explores how structured knowledge can support more reliable and transparent AI systems, with contributions to knowledge base construction, entity disambiguation, rule mining, knowledge graph alignment, and knowledge-based language models. He is also closely associated with the YAGO knowledge base ecosystem.

Fabian Suchanek is a Hi! PARIS Advanced Fellow for the 2025-2028 period with the project “Lossy Language Models.” This fellowship investigates how large language models can become more reliable by delegating factual knowledge, such as names, dates, and numbers, to external knowledge graphs rather than storing such information internally.

The project aims to reduce hallucinations, improve transparency, and make factual information more verifiable by combining language models with structured knowledge bases.
