Albert Bifet is Professor of Big Data at Télécom Paris, where he leads a joint lab with BNP Paribas. He is also Professor of AI and Director of Te Ipu o te Mahara, The AI Institute at the University of Waikato. He is also a Hi! PARIS Fellow for the 2026-2029 period.
His research focuses on streaming AI, machine learning for data streams, adaptive learning systems, concept drift, real-time monitoring, and low-latency inference. He has contributed to major open-source tools for stream learning, including MOA, Apache SAMOA, and scikit-multiflow, and co-authored Machine Learning for Data Streams published by MIT Press. He works closely with academic and industry partners to bring research into real-world systems, with applications in finance, telecommunications, transportation, environmental monitoring, and MLOps.
