Pablo M. Baquero is an Assistant Professor in Law and Taxation at HEC Paris. He is also a member of the Smart Law Hub at HEC Paris.
His research sits at the intersection of law, technology, innovation, and business. He focuses on law and artificial intelligence, smart contracts, blockchain, digital assets, private law, and international business transactions. His work adopts a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective, connecting law with computer science, economics, business, and sociology.
Pablo Baquero is a Hi! PARIS Chair Holder for the 2021-2024 period with the project “Law and Smart Contracts.” His research examines how legal systems can adapt to emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, and smart contracts, while supporting ethical innovation, legal compliance, transparency, and accountability.
Through this project, he explores both how laws and regulations should govern emerging technologies, and how algorithmic systems can be designed to comply with legal and regulatory objectives.
