SUMMARY:Vivatech 2026 | Defense in the Age of Physical AI - Dual-use systems\, strategic capability\, and Europe’s sovereignty
DESCRIPTION:VivaTech returns from June 17 to 20\, 2026\, at the Porte de Versailles and announces a scale-up. \nDuring this edition\, Hi! PARIS will co-organize a workshop with HEC Paris (IEI) and CDL-Paris\, titled “Defense in the Age of Physical AI – Dual-use systems\, strategic capability\, and Europe’s sovereignty” on June 17(12:30–2:00 PM).  \nArtificial intelligence is evolving at an unprecedented speed\, faster than any previous technology wave. In just a few years\, the conversation has moved from predictive AI to generative AI\, and then to agentic AI. The next frontier is now becoming increasingly visible: Physical AI. \nPhysical AI refers to AI systems that do not only process information\, but also interact with the real world through perception\, decision-making\, autonomy\, and action. It is the convergence of advanced models\, robotics\, autonomous systems\, edge computing\, simulation\, and real-time inference. It brings AI out of the interface and into the environment. \nOne of the earliest and most consequential domains where this shift is already becoming tangible is defense. \nFrom autonomous systems and robotics to intelligence support\, navigation\, surveillance\, counter-drone systems\, and other dual-use applications\, AI is accelerating a new generation of capabilities. What was once discussed as future potential is increasingly becoming an operational reality. This creates new opportunities\, new tensions\, and new strategic questions for founders\, investors\, researchers\, public institutions\, and the wider innovation ecosystem. \nThis event will convene leaders from across the European ecosystem to explore how Physical AI is advancing defense\, how dual-use technologies are moving from innovation to deployment\, and what this means for security\, sovereignty\, and Europe’s strategic position.

SUMMARY:Hi! PARIS Meet Up! on “AI & Fake News Detection”
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Hi! PARIS Initiatives\, a series designed to build thematic working groups around major societal challenges\, an upcoming Meet Up on “AI & Fake News Detection” will take place on Tuesday\, June 9\, 2026\, at 6 PM\, at STATION F (Central Room). \n  \nArtificial intelligence is changing the way false information is created\, spread\, and detected online. But behind that\, there are still many open questions. How can we better identify coordinated influence campaigns? How do misleading arguments circulate on social platforms? What really works when it comes to detecting false or manipulative content? And how can research help public and private actors respond more effectively to these new information threats? \n  \nThe next Hi! PARIS Meet Up will bring together researchers and practitioners for a cross-disciplinary discussion on misinformation\, online influence\, and the challenges they raise in the digital age. \n  \nRegister here to secure your spot: https://evenium.events/rt2jct9u

SUMMARY:HEC x IRSEM Seminar Series on Business and the Weaponization of Economic Interdependence
DESCRIPTION:Building with AI: a practitioner’s view of AI sovereignty \nCharles Gorintin is co‑founder and CTO of Alan\, the European digital health insurer and care platform that builds end‑to‑end health services (insurance\, virtual care\, prevention\, and claims) for employers and members. He is also a co‑founding advisor of Mistral AI. He has worked extensively on technology for healthcare and other regulated sectors\, with a practical focus on compliance\, reliability\, and user safety. He’ll talk about how\, two years into the agent revolution\, the AI layer cake is becoming legible from the inside: adoption at the top\, agents\, models\, and open source in the middle\, infrastructure at the bottom. France holds a strong hand on the deepest layer\, and the moment to build is now. \nRegistration a few days in advance is mandatory for security reasons. You can register here.

DESCRIPTION:The SmartLawHub\, in partnership with the Brussels Privay Hub is organising a workshop in connection with the forthcoming special issue Towards a Competitive Digital EU: Addressing and Overcoming the Barriers to Regulatory Effectiveness\, recently announced in Computer Law & Security Review. \nThe event will take place at HEC Paris on 23–24 March and will bring together academics\, practitioners\, and policy-oriented researchers working on digital regulation\, governance of emerging technologies\, and the broader question of regulatory effectiveness in the EU digital ecosystem. \nThe workshop is intended as a focused exchange around ongoing research\, draft contributions to the special issue\, and adjacent work on data governance\, AI regulation\, enforcement capacity\, and competitiveness challenges faced by European actors. The objective is less formal presentation than substantive discussion\, cross-fertilisation of perspectives\, and sharpening of analytical approaches ahead of publication. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe detailed agenda is available through SmartLawHub. For further information or participation inquiries\, please contact the organisers directly via SmartLawHub.
